Farewell June

OMG she still exists?!

Um, hi guys! Long time, no see etc etc.

In a nut shell, your gal went on a social media break for Lent, then lost any motivation she'd ever had for the blog, Instagram, the lot, exams hit, and it took going to a marketing summer school and being told having a social media presence helps get a job in social media (true story, can't tell a lie) to get me to pull my socks up and get back on here again. Obviously, that is not to say that the only reason I'm doing this is to get a job, oh gosh no! I'd already been thinking about it for a while, working out how to take this forward, and I think I'm nearly there again 😊

But what's happened in the past few months since we last spoke?

So so much!

Like I already mentioned, I completed my exams and dissertation, and GRADUATE ON THURSDAY (I can't believe it either)! I got a 2:1 (1 mark off a first, but more on that another time), and am now in that fun unemployed stage of post-graduate life (the amount of rejections I've had has been ridiculous 😥).

I also turned 21, meaning I am less and less able to hide from adult responsibility. I had the best time celebrating, going for a meal with my Uni friends, seeing Phantom of the Opera in London with my friends from home, and enjoying a beautiful meal cooked by my Grandma with my family.

This photo really does not convey the hype I felt watching Phantom - it took me a week to recover! And if you still don't get how much of a fangirl I am, I nearly cried with excitement when Andrew Lloyd Webber drove past me when I was in London last week 🙈

I've also been travelling, having been to Bristol on a pre-exam 'escape life' trip, and Madrid to visit a friend on their year abroad. I've been to my first opera, attended a marketing summer school (blog posts on each of these to follow), and completed an incredible work experience with Benefit Cosmetics (who else attended their fab Hello Happy event in Shoreditch?).

I genuinely did not think I could become so happy from sitting in a pink trolley 😂

But most importantly, I've decided to "rebrand", which means a re-introduction is in order:

Hi, I'm Beatrice, and welcome to my blog!

I'm sure it's not a shock to those of you who have been on my socials in the last couple of days and seen me updating usernames left, right, and centre, but I've decided that writing under a pseudonym just is not practical anymore. Let alone trying to get employers to look at my work, from a business perspective it makes no sense, and, most importantly, if I'm trying to create a place of authenticity, then I might as well be honest with my name!

// So why did I hide it in the first place? //

Us millennials have been born into a world where online security is paramount. We have been taught about it from a young age, and it personally made me more than a little bit scared of the big bad internet world. Especially as I was living away from home for the first time, the more I could withhold about my real life, the better.

Plus, it made me feel like JK Rowling, because "June Konrad" vaguely means "young adviser". Let's just say that the quality of my advice posts means the irony of this description is reason enough to get rid of it 😂🙈

But now, having finished University, and being 3 years "wiser", whilst I'm not gunna start giving out my home address to everyone online, I've decided that I am happy for internet people to know me by my actual name.

I'm not sure what's coming on this blog in the future. I know I've got some travel posts coming up (I really love writing them!), I need to finish off my University series, and there will be a graduation post in due course, but after that, I am leaving myself open to write about anything and everything to do with post-grad life and beyond.

I hope you will join me on my adventure!

TTFN,

Beatrice
xx
